Book Design
The Impact of Identifying as Minority Status
Responsibilities
Conceptual editorial design for a research-based publication
Typographic system design
Color palette development rooted in conceptual symbolism
Cover design and spine layout for physical publication
Print-ready production and book assembly
Visual storytelling through material, format, and sequencing
Overview
I created this publication as part of a larger project exploring personal experience and identity, focusing on the broader effects of identifying as a minority.
To establish a clear foundation, I defined all key terms using Merriam-Webster, presenting each official definition and emphasizing the most contexually relevant meaning.
The book is organized into chapters based on major effects, with each section distinguished by a background color representing a range of skin tones. This full spectrum carries through the covers, reinforcing that no single skin color is exclusive to identifying as a minority.
